Biweekly update vol.24, 13th May — 27th May

TL;DR

Hello, crypto fans and tech enthusiasts! The last two weeks have been extremely intense and exciting for the Humanode teams, and we can’t wait to share some of the most significant news with you!

First and foremost, the team announced that Testnet v3 — “Ramiel” will be launching on May 31st! Ramiel will be the next major step towards the launch of the Humanode Mainnet this summer, and we will be focusing on brushing up the system, moving from permissioned Proof of Authority where nodes are supposed to trust each other, to a trustless permissionless system, and bringing EVM-compatibility to the Humanode testnet. Save the date!

At the same time, the Humanode Conference will take place from May 31st — to June 1st, 2022. Join the team on Gather.town for a few days of keynotes, lectures, seminars, games, conversations, and a whole lot of fun, focusing on the upcoming launch of Humanode mainnet, the project’s vision, partnerships, technology, and growing as a community!

Moreover, the signup for the Humanode Hackathon is live! “Hack The Sybil!” will be hosted on DoraHacks from June 2nd to June 15th. The hackathon will include a series of educational workshops that teach participants to build decentralized applications on the Humanode network. After the hackathon, applicants will be able to apply for a grant through the Humanode Grant Program which will launch in Q3 2022 after the mainnet launch. Don’t forget to join Humanode Discord to team up with other participants and keep up to date with events during the hackathon!

Other than that, the Humanode Fireside talk took place in the Humanode Telegram voice chat. The team discussed biometric controllers. Listen to the recording on the Humanode Podcast!

That’s all for today! Have a wonderful weekend! All the love, all the power!

🔺Humanode Testnet v3 — “Ramiel” to Go Live🔺

The Humanode Core team announced that Testnet v3 — “Ramiel” will be launching on May 31st!

Some of the protocol-level features that will be coming live upon release of Ramiel are moving from Aura to BABE block production engine and GRANDPA for block finalization. Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility will enable Solidity smart contracts on the Humanode chain. Users will also be able to analyze their node activities in polkadot.js explorer: from bioauth status to block production and finalization. Detailed information will be provided shortly!

Naturally, builders will be able to deploy and test their bio-auth enabled Dapps on the Humanode testnet. The upcoming Hackathon will be a great chance to work with both the chain and the biometric authorization service and gain rewards for your efforts!

The setup process for launching nodes will also be going through a major overhaul, but other than some changes in the UX/UI, most of the major changes will be under the hood.

Ramiel is also scheduled to have a number of (highly anticipated) minor upgrades in the upcoming months.

Once testnet v2 is concluded, we will provide some detailed analytics of the path we have taken so far.

Ramiel will be open to all to test, but in order to test how well BABE and GRANDPA perform as we scale the network. This means, we will be setting up a sign-up page, and invitations will go out in batches of 50 to 100.

As a final note, we would like to present the participants of testnet v1 “Sachiel” with a token of our gratitude as they were the first ones that were able to find, believe and deploy first-ever human nodes. If you were a testnet participant from testnet v1, we will be providing you with a link (shortly) so that you can claim the fire crystal. Their amount will be limited by the number of participants in testnet 1. By claiming it you will be able to claim to have been in the first generation of human nodes. Naturally, the enthusiasm of the Humanode community and our testnet human nodes is likely to inspire the other elements of nature to show their gratitude in the future too.

Humanode Testnet V2 Public Beta

The Humanode testnet V2 ‘Shamshel’, the 1st major upgrade that greatly improves the UI/UX, is open to public testing.

As a reminder, this is not an incentivized testnet. You will not become a millionaire overnight while waiting for a mysterious airdrop. Instead, your pseudonymous biometric identification will be written down in history and may get a chance to slide in to become a human node for the mainnet that is scheduled to launch sometime mid-next year. You may also be able to gain opportunities to suggest, join, or get involved in various Humanode projects, and you may get a shot at some surprises down the road.

If you are not a human node yet, please press this link.

Please remember to read the guide before you attempt to install the app, as 95% of the issues can be resolved by reading the guide.

Hack The Sybil! Humanode Hackathon Announcement

The Humanode team has just officially announced the details of the Humanode Hackathon “Hack The Sybil!” which will be hosted on DoraHacks from June 2nd to June 15th! They are also scheduling a Demo day to show the work of the participants of the Hackathon on June 22nd, and announce the winners once the demos are concluded.

Originally scheduled to run from the 16th of May, the core team made an executive decision to delay the opening of the Hackathon to enable the builders to directly work with the upcoming testnet v3.

The hackathon will include a series of educational workshops that teach participants to build decentralized applications on the Humanode network.

🔺Tech integration

Ways you integrate Humanode:

  • Humanode OAuth 2 Service: Biometric Sybil-resistance for dapps
  • Humanode chain: EVM-compatible network based on equal human nodes

There are five tracks for the Humanode hackathon:

  1. DAO: Build 1p1v or new models of governance other than token-based voting.
  2. UI/UX: Use private biometric authentication to improve web3 experience.
  3. Chain tools: Build the first generation of tools for Humanode chain exploration, analysis, or dev tooling.
  4. Dapps for human nodes: Help human nodes (validators) organize, manage and automate all things connected to being an integral part of the network.
  5. Special track: There are endless possibilities across industries: social networks, art, gaming, finance, governance, public goods, and other.

🔺Workshops

- Sybil-resistance for apps with Humanode API

- Connecting to Humanode chain

Prizes

🔺$30,000+ in total.

🔺Judging

All projects will be reviewed by the Humanode team to determine whether the project submissions meet the minimum level of viability with respect to theme and submission requirements according to the hackathon rules, and then will be judged by the judging panel which will be introduced shortly.

After the hackathon, applicants will be able to apply for a grant through the Humanode Grant Program which will launch in Q3 2022 after the mainnet launch. Reputable VCs and Technology partners amongst Humanode sponsors, such as Facetec and WinterMute are also here hunting for great ideas and teams, so gear up and sign up to build!

Don’t forget to join Humanode Discord to team up with other participants and keep up to date with events during the hackathon.

The signup for the Humanode Hackathon is live!

If you are looking forward to earning the $30,000 prize money, or just interested in working with the humanode network, do not hesitate. Visit our Hackathon landing page, and officially register now!

Humanode Fireside

In case you missed last week’s Fireside chat about biometric controllers, here’s the recording 🎧

As usual, there was a live talk between the team members first, and then a conversation with the community.

Break the cycle

The long wait is finally over, the Humanode team announced a public sale! In a short film named ‘Break the cycle’ it is said that the sale is expected this summer! Stay tuned for more details!
