Ocean Protocol: Data Dialogue, Opinion on FaceBook Libra
Biweekly update 24th July — 6th August
Greetings to all! We believe you remember Ocean Protocol, an ecosystem for the data economy and associated services, with a tokenized service layer that securely exposes data, storage, compute and algorithms for consumption. There is little news we want to share with you.
First, there is a live video of Data Dialogue. It was a meetup, presented by SGInnovate and Ocean Protocol. Trough this event speakers delved into the healthcare vertical. As we know, Ocean Protocol is sharing a healthcare use case demo on its collaboration with ConnectedLife where there is a system in place to continuously and objectively monitor the motor symptoms of people living with Parkinson’s, and for that data to be shared with healthcare professionals, who in turn can adjust and prescribe a treatment tailored to the individual. We believe that partnership with SGInnovcate can improve Ocean, and any use-case makes any project better.
Second, we’ve found Bruce Pon’s, Ocean co-founder, opinion on FaceBook Libra. In his view, Facebook hasn’t earned the trust of the blockchain community. Furthermore, he admitted that it hasn’t he has not been optimistic, but a lot of people have been skeptical. We think that the blockchain community is skeptical about FaceBook Libra.
To conclude, the Ocean team has not made significant changes. However, the development is still going on, and we hope developers will create substantial updates.

- Data Dialogue: Enabling Healthcare Innovations
The potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications and advancement in healthcare is vast — from AI chatbots for patients to early diagnosis and genome sequencing. However, the industry is facing the constraint of sharing data within local organisations and across borders to further advance AI research. As part of the Data Dialogue series, speakers delve into the healthcare vertical.

After the presentation, join us in an in-depth discussion with the expert panel on data sharing in the industry and the challenges within.

Rumours
- Opinion of Bruce Pon, co-founder and board member on FaceBook Libra
“It’s good that a large company recognizes the value of blockchain. It’s good that we have more people through the Facebook platform, who will be exposed to blockchain, Bitcoin and Ethereum. The part that I’m concerned about is, what is Facebook going to really do with the data? Are they actually going to usurp national laws in a way that steals people’s data or disenfranchises people? Are the hundred consortium members going to be this super group, who essentially control the flow of information, both transactions and data and our social graph in a way that we don’t really foresee now, and given Facebook’s track record — it’s not that I’m not optimistic, but a lot of people are skeptical.”
