Shift: Core v7.0t has been released to the testnet, Reward program for those that set up a storage node and join the Phoenix testnet cluster
Biweekly update 7th June — 21st June
Shift Core v7.0t has been released to the testnet! Activation will occur next Thursday. This major release introduces the foundation of a storage-based p2p economy that thrives on the utility of the SHIFT token. These weeks Phoenix 0.6.2 was showing its stability on the testnet cluster, which now consists of more than 30 peers! The team will be instigating a reward program for those that set up a storage node and join the Phoenix testnet cluster. This will come in the form of ≈5$ distributed to qualifying participants every month. In total, ≈ 3000$ will be available for distribution during the first three months of the Shift v7.0t roll out. Also, the website is getting a revamp, done by a professional design agency. As for marketing and social encounters, the team is still fully focused on development. As Shift vice-president Werner Heisenberg mentioned: “The concept of conferences is something for the future”. During these weeks, Shift showed little activity in the media landscape. The community of shifters continues to grow slowly. Social media dynamics shows that it remains virtually unchanged. There is a slight fluctuation in the number of subscribers of Shift social media channels these weeks. For those who aren’t familiar, the team switched from Ryver to the more popular Discord, as one of the team’s goals is to build a larger community and the crypto scene represents a major source of potential members. More to follow. Stay tuned for the testnet release!
The table above illustrates low development activity.
A lot of the information is private at present. Shift has also private GitHub repositories.

- From Official Discord channel:
Ralf S (Shift President and Lead Developer) on February 1st, 2019:
“In response to the market downturn, we began minimizing team expenses a good deal of time ago. This is perhaps something that has been evident in our decision to focus on development rather than marketing. In light of that decision, we have been able to sustain progress on the Shift Project, and have the funds necessary to continue in this manner long term, if necessary.”
- From Official Ryver chat:
Ralf S (Shift President and Lead Developer) on December 20th, 2018:
“Still making progress on the backend every day. But I admit it’s an awful lot of work. We’ve received various request in DM to show something to the public. But it’s mainly code work we’re doing now, no eye candy. But I guess I can share a bit of what we’re working on right now. I will paste some screens in our Discord channel.”
Press Release: Shift Project Public Testnet (April 18th, 2019):
- From Official Telegram Group:
Werner Heisenberg (Vice-president and Operations manager) on October 23rd, 2018:
“The concept of conferences is something for the future”.
The Shift Team will be instigating a reward program for those that set up a storage node and join the Phoenix testnet cluster. This will come in the form of 15 SHIFT (≈5 $) distributed to qualifying participants every month.
In total, 9,000 SHIFT (≈ 3000 $) will be available for distribution during the first 3 months of the Shift v7.0t roll out.
Participation is easy.
Join Shift Discord channel, setup a Phoenix node, post a private message to Shift operations manager, Heisenberg#8320, containing the peerID (public key) and public IP address of your node, and then share the mainnet wallet address you’d like to use to receive your funds. The team will be monitoring the online state of all nodes consistently in order to ensure suitable uptime.
The rules are simple. To have a valid claim to the 15 SHIFT/month reward:
✅ Uptime is measured from the 1st of each month.
✅ Max. 2 days downtime per month.
✅ Response time following the release of a new patch should be within 2 days.
✅ The first qualifying period begins next month on July 1st.
✅ Payments are sent on the 1st day of the following month.
💰 A onetime bonus of 1,000 SHIFT will be sent to a randomly selected node operator who has participated during the first qualifying month, with the prize paid on August 1st.
⚠️ These offers are not open to delegates currently forging on the Shift mainnet.
The team is also able to offer the first 100 participants in the Shift Reward Program a ‘starter bonus’ of ≈6$.

“The next development milestone will focus on a Proof-of-Spacetime algorithm that is used to verify whether storage providers are hosting the content they should be hosting. Based on those results storage providers will be rewarded (at the blockchain level) for their services.”
