If you are a blogger from Sri Lanka you must have heard or read about Syndi. The once popular blog aggregator has shut it doors after 10 years in operation.

How syndi looked like in its peak

Syndi, was once a popular blog aggregator that we as bloggers used to visit everyday to see what’s happening at the blogosphere in Sri Lanka.

The site was the place where people discovered new and interesting posts and it was one of the main source of traffic to upcoming blogs before Facebook and Twitter was popular way of sharing content.

However as time went on more and more people stopped blogging and it became even more unpopular when Facebook and Twitter became more and more popular. And with that the popularity of Syndi also dropped.

The site once at it peak had nearly 100 posts per day went to just under 10 posts per day and the creators have finally decided to shut its doors and let the service sunset.

It’s sad to see more and more people have stopped blogging altogether. Yes blogging won’t pay your bills but still blogging is a way of expressing yourself, and it’s a good way to read something different everyday.

More and more people have flocked to places like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Easy to create content and easy to get popular.

But on the bright side as less people are actually blogging it means there will be more great content as only people who are passionate about blogging are the people creating content in this dying form or art.

I wish people who made Syndi a bright future.
