“DELUDED CUSTODIANS” ENTRY, MARCH 22, 2025
Dear Carlo,
Hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. At least you don’t live in the U.S.S.A. anymore. Lucky you.
I am writing to you from Ensenada, Mexico. We are waiting a week here for Gael with her dogs and sheep to catch up to us. Also, meeting up with Lizzie Lizard Brain and her daughter, Alex. They’re bringing buffalo hot wings. Susan Wheelock couldn’t resist the lure of traveling and being off-line either.
Then our little caravan will head east to Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, and later, down the coast. Taking our own sweet time.
In Oaxaca, we will work at a coffee plantation for six months. Shade-grown organic coffee beans, vanilla plants, cinnamon trees and towering poinsettias in the rainforest. Heaven.
In compliance with our political asylum status, we have to stay offline during this time. So here I am, sitting in the shade of a palm tree, sipping a piña colada, my bare toes groping the sand. We’ve just come from seeing La Bufadora, the natural blow hole. Mrs. Jackson and mama are deliriously happy to be so far away “from the blowhard in the states.”
