I didn’t hit my goals this week

So you didn’t hit your goals this week? I’ll let you in on a secret. I didn’t either.

It’s not the end of the world, and when something like this happens, I look at it as a signal that something isn’t working for me.

The key is to first identify what went wrong, and then take steps to prevent it from happening again in the future.

When I don’t reach my targets, I always begin by examining the goals themselves.

For example, take a look at my weekly objectives:

  • By Friday: complete a cover production of the track killer by Chvrches
  • By Friday: start pre-production on a new song

Now as I read this I recognize a glaring problem: both things ended on the same day.

In general, I avoid this; and more so with music, because I am almost sure that I will not be able to complete two tasks on the same day.

So these didn’t really pass my sniff test and I could have caught this early on. So I shouldn’t be surprised that I didn’t finish them.

Realistically, my second objective needed more development work, and it wasn’t clear enough. But I’ll save fixing that for another post; you can see what I’m working on in the attachment, I’ll finish it up soon and start on the next thing.

I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think and have a great weekend!
