ἐκτομή (Ektomia)

I.
The taxi was still, but we had
already been transported, akinetic
and my hand against your back
was as disconnected
as a youthful dream.

I heard your voice like an undercurrent
beneath the radio melody.
The words colluded to form
a sensory disturbance -
a dissonance without design.

You said there were boundaries.

I took your secrets in hand,
held your heart in my palm.

You are not a lie…
You are not a lie.

II.
Your nakedness makes me weep.

The hunger, so real
had gnawed upon your flesh
and the cure, no less merciful.
I was in awe of your form,
your survival.

My Amazonian goddess.
My Aphrodite of Milos.

Let there be no area out of bounds.

You are carved and hollowed,
but you have the poise to love
and receive love.

Your heart makes both of us whole.
