Write it on a piece of paper, because technology won’t help.

I started journaling in 2016 and the changes within myself is simply indescribable. It was very hard at the beginning (because I was that guy who doesn’t even mind reading an article), but eventually I started mining gold.

Technology

Let me stop yourself from thinking about using technology to improve yourself (I accept the fact that it’s the best way to improve yourself), but then again there are problems.

Technology is fine, it’s great to be precise. I’m writing this in Medium and I’m proud that I could manage to share my opinion with people around the globe with the help of this service.

But to improve your inner self, you SHOULD write with a pen and a piece of paper. That’s something I’d love to recommend (consider that I’m forcing you)

Journaling

There is only one rule while journaling, that there are no rules. You can write whatever you want, anytime you want, wherever you want, but.

but, but, make sure that you’re writing yourself out without a mask.

That’s very important.

When you start writing down your best days, your bad experiences, happiness, your achievements, may be everyday activities, dreams, goals, future plans, your good points, bad points, successful moments, and everything you wanted to write.

It’s like you’re writing down something from your entire body (maybe from the brain? I don’t know) and it feels like you’re 25kg less in weight after when you finish writing that line.

It feels so good, so free and it gives that feeling of doing something or moving ahead (holy, it’s indescribable for sure).

Tech vs Writing

You might be thinking about writing your everyday activities and those list of dreams, goals etc on your favorite application like Evernote or Wunderlist (I was like you until I met my journal).

But it won’t help!

may be for some people.

But I still believe that writing on a piece of paper has a huge difference compared to writing on an app or using your virtual keyboard.

Buy a journal (it’s just a book), you can buy as many as you want. I know people who keep journals for dreams, every day activities, goals etc. I keep one for a year and I’m so happy and satisfied with my journal.

I completed my first journal pretty fast within 6–7 months (I was that guy who never believed I could manage a journal, but I completed an entire book in 7 months)

The change is immediate

Hooman beings are always attracted towards immediate results, if you’re a human being then journaling will always help you understand yourself (IMMEDIATELY) and I’m guaranteeing this (100%).

Give it a try, do journaling for a week and see whether you could possibly continue it. There is some essence of life in it, because you’re looking into yourself, and writing your heart out without faking it (that’s rare).
