I turned to Anninos and we both nodded our head slowly in agreement to fly in to London.
When we got an invitation from London & Partners for the London Tech Week to be part of the German delegation, I was at first skeptical of what this series of events can offer us. I must note that, at that point I was only familiar with the public events, which were great, but since we are working hard on releasing our flagship product Parametricos Studio, we choose our time spend wisely.
I was waiting for a follow up call to discuss the schedule for the next few days. During our conversation about the schedule, with one of the London & Partners Business Development Manageron the phone, I turned to Anninos and we both nodded our head slowly in agreement to fly in to London for a week.
It was well organised and tailor made, for our startup’s needs. We just had to be there. We landed in London the previous day and on the 10th of June at 8:30 am we were at the Here East where the opening ceremony was launched with a speech by the UK Prime Minister Teresa May.
Until later that evening we were presented with the successes and fame that London has acquired throughout the years in the startup world. One of them was a really nice on-stage discussion with Taavet Hinrikus, Founder and Chairman of TransferWise.
The Opening Dinner at The Pavilion, Tower of London, was arranged in a way to meet people from various backgrounds and industries. It was with a simple “Hey, so what is it, your company does…” Then I would start my elevator pitch about Parametricos on the spot.
It was an exceptional and funny event, organised by Informa Tech, held to raise funds for Founders4Schools, A great initiative with the vision for ‘Bridging the gap between education and the world of work.’
This was day 1, accompanied with a beautiful, typical, rainy, British weather. I can go on and on with the specifics of what London Tech Week and London & Partners offered throughout the week.
What we brought back to the office with us, is a stronger bond with London & Partners and a great feeling, almost a prediction, of what London has to offer and what we can offer back. We’ve listened to innovators from all around the world. We got viable feedback from skilled entrepreneurs on our company’s future plan and I’m on to writing emails to interested parties.
A week well thought and full of surprises.
