Collaboration between VisualARQ to Studio 3DX by Parametricos

This tutorial is to explain the ease of exporting VisualARQ’s BIM designs from Rhino 3D and uploading them to Studio 3DX.

At Parametricos we love collaborating with great people that do their best to improve our design workflow. Francesc Salla and his team for VisualARQ at Asuni is one I know since I was working on my master thesis when I contacted them for some parametric questions. When we started Parametricos, VisualARQ were the first that I wanted to work with, since I believe it’s the human aspect behind the product that make the whole experience better. So, if you are a new or existing VisualARQ user, you can test our solution for 7 days and claim your 100 Euros discount on your annual subscription at studio3dx.com.

We show you step by step how to export and upload your BIM 3D IFC model from VisualARQ to Studio 3DX in a few minutes. (After your free trial email us at visualarq@asuni.com and info@parametricos.com with Subject: VisualARQ to Parametricos)

Now, to the following steps that will get your BIM workflow going.

Step 1: Design now with VisualARQ for Rhino

Start designing a BIM 3D model by using VisualARQ: Flexible BIM for Rhino
You can have a look at this wide range of learning materials from VisualARQ here: visualarq.com/learn

Check out this tutorial below that takes you through design, step by step.

Step 2: Export from VisualARQ

Export by selecting File/Save As and choosing IFC 2x3 Building Model. Studio 3DX | Cloud BIM and GIS by Parametricos

If you already have an IFC model created with VisualARQ you can then export by selecting File/Save As and choosing IFC 2x3 Building Model.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have ‘Save textures’ and ‘Save Geometry Only’ selected before saving.

Step 3: Create new Project

After selecting a project navigate to Models tab and click on the bottom right + button and add a new model inside the project.

Step 5: Model Matrix

Select your exported model from VisualARQ and upload it on the appropriate place on the model matrix.

Step 7: Processing

Select any element from your IFC file on the left and isolate it. Any selected element will show the parameters that are embedded inside it.

With simple mouse controls you can navigate inside and out of your model and select any element from the tree panel on the left.

Change the surrounding view style and see how well your design fits into its context in the accurate project site, BIM and GIS style.

Requirements

VisualARQ License: You have to own a VisualARQ license to enable importing and exporting of IFC files in Rhino.
Trial: The VisualARQ evaluation version is fully functional for 30 days after the installation. After 30 days some features are disabled.
