Introduction to Hermeticism
A Summary of “On the Trail of the Winged God” by Stephan Hoeller (1996)
“On the Trail of the Winged God” is a short introductory essay to the history of Hermes and Hermeticism, published by Stephan Hoeller in 1996. Hoeller is a neo-Gnostic bishop, and a scholar of Gnosticism who has written many books and papers on Gnostic teachings, and their connection to Jungian psychology.
The essay serves as a good preliminary introduction to the subject of Hermeticism, and provides a non-technical account of the development of the archetype of Hermes Trismegistus, from ancient Greece and Egypt unto today.
We proceed with a simplified abridgement of the text.
By the way, I’m now publishing all of my book summaries under the publication Paraphilosophy. I’d really appreciate it if you could follow — it’s free. 😁
