Language development starts with sounds and gestures, then words and sentences. You can support language development by talking a lot with your child and responding when they communicate (source: raisingchildren.net.au). It’s perfectly normal for a child to develop sooner or later than expected, and you can always talk to a child health professional if you’re concerned about a language delay.
