- Establish a learning environment focused on your family needs. You don’t need to replicate a classroom.

- Give your children some freedom. Whenever possible let them choose what they would like to learn.

- Add a weekly tradition so everyone has something to look forward to. For example, Friday movie night.

- Make a healthy snack at the beginning of the day, let the children choose when to snack and how often.

- Take breaks when things get difficult. Check out the “Brain Breaks Ideas” included here. Remember one step at a time!

- Create a morning routine for your children, involving fun activities such as dance, yoga and mindfulness.

- Take this opportunity to teach children life skills such as doing laundry, tidying up, cleaning bathrooms, cooking, etc.

- Encourage children to journal every day. Focusing on the small things they are grateful for!

- Schedule family meetings to talk about what’s working and what needs to be adjusted.

- Come up with a daily challenge. It can include making an art project, reading a certain number of pages, working on a puzzle, etc.

- Exercise daily! Have children make a workout video for their friends. Create a family exercise routine including walks, bike rides, dancing, yoga, etc.

- Make a jar of fun! Write down all the fun activities your family members enjoy and place them in a jar. When someone is bored they can look in the jar and pick one of those activities.
