What Qualifies You to be a Good Parent?
What does it mean to be a good parent? Body, heart, mind & spirit? Can you explain that? Can you share your understanding in such a way that it is both clear and pragmatic to yourself, let alone to your children? Furthermore — what does it mean to be a good, wholesome human being that is an integral part of the core foundations of society?
If we do not know the answer, then what?
The questions above have shaped and guided my journey through my growth and development over the last 11 years. As parents at Lighthouse International Group, we are looking at ourselves as fathers, mothers and responsible guardians of our children and asking these questions. Not because we have all the answers, but because we care and have enough humility to start the process of looking inwardly at ourselves. We are increasingly committed to finding the answers in the desire of becoming better people and better parents. Why? Because our children demand our attention, beyond distraction, and we ought to respond with love to higher levels of effectiveness. What is the purpose of parenting support groups?
As you will see from the video above, we do not have all of the answers to these questions, but we have spent 18 years understanding and learning more through the process. We are here because we want to help you to listen, to talk, to share, to support and to help parents who have a healthy attitude towards their growth. This enables us to follow through with the application of what has been learned in order to make impactful changes in our lives and in that of our children.
