Parity 0.7.0 brings some of the biggest changes since the project launch. Read below for an overview of what to expect.

Configurable Instruments

Until now, Parity has supported two decimal digits in prices and no decimal digits in quantities. Parity 0.7.0 introduces support for configurable number of decimal digits in both prices and quantities for each instrument, making it a viable choice for new asset classes, such as digital currencies.

Protocol Updates

As a part of the configurable instrument support, Parity 0.7.0 represents prices and quantities using 64 bits. The network protocols no longer contain the Broken Trade message, and PMD does away with the Seconds and Order Deleted messages as well. PMR gets a complete overhaul, and FIX introduces support for variable number of decimal digits in prices and quantities.

Performance Improvements

Thanks to all the other changes, the trading system in Parity 0.7.0 actually does less work than in Parity 0.6.0. It and the FIX gateway also exhibit lower memory allocation rates than before. Finally, all applications use direct byte buffers for reduced latency in I/O operations.
