Meet Damilare
Oluwadamilare Arabambi is the Finance Officer at Parkway Projects. Damilare started his Accounting profession at an audit firm in 2009. He is a graduate of Economics from the University of Ibadan, Oyo state. When Damilare is not at work, he is either at home or church. After work, Damilare goes home. (lol)
How did you get involved in the fintech space?
The opportunity to work for a fintech like Parkway Projects came after worked as an auditor and I was eager to take up the challenge.
As a Finance Officer, what is a typical day like for you?
A typical day for me involves various tasks like analyzing financial records, preparing financial documents/reports/budgets, establishing interpersonal business relationships to facilitate work activities and preparing reports related to compliance matters). I am keen on achieving my daily tasks but some unplanned tasks sometimes disrupt achieving the to-do for the day.
What has been your most interesting moment working in the park?
The most interesting moment for me is the team bonding activities. It’s such an interesting time to wind down with colleagues while playing games and sharing some good laughs. Especially, the concentration game.
Can you explain the struggles/hurdles you experience at work?
The first-ever hurdle was following up with receivables from the bank. Other hurdles include a daily entry for settlement and cost minimization viz-a-viz staff request.
Joining the company a few years back, what has surprised you the most about your experience here thus far?
My ability to understand the operating segments of the organization in a short while. Although I am still learning, I am committed to giving my best to the organization.
Asides work, what keeps you busy and what do you enjoy doing?
Asides work if there’s anything I enjoy doing that would be brainstorming and sleeping.
What’s one piece of advice you’d have for someone who wants to come to work here?
My advice to anyone looking forward to joining the Park: Know what you can do, be open to learning and be ready to add value.
Where do you personally see Parkway Projects in 2 years?
I see Parkway Projects doing great as a company and setting a fantastic pace in the industry. We are well-positioned for great innovations in Nigeria’s fintech space.
What is your motto?
For me, it has always been putting your best into whatever you do, whether you are noticed or not.
