Let’s end on a high note! We’ve been waiting for it and we are glad it finally came!

Since the beginning of the year, we have worked on achieving a lot of growth as an organization. We developed and improved procedures, workflows, hired new members of staff, and made some modifications to the way we get things done.

December came knocking and Humans of the Park were looking to have a big yet different end-of-the-year party. After a voting process, we agreed to an end of the year party at West Africa’s 1st Trampoline Park & foremost recreation centre -UPBEAT CENTRE.

On December 11th, it was crystal clear: Humans of the Park were ready to parte after parte. Have you ever heard the phrase “work hard, party hard”? It seemed a fitting day to toast to the milestones we have achieved in Nigeria’s fintech space — and a good one at that.

It was a day full of excitement and fun, lively conversations, great food, cool music, and of course, a great atmosphere. The day started with aerobics and ended with some new dance moves. Ever seen a guy tweaking at the sound of “Skales — Shake Body and Zlatan x IVD — Bolanle, pepper dem o”? The unthinkable unfolded before our eyes.

Without further ado, here is the day in photos from different team bonding activities:

Upbeat Safety Brief

Humans of the Park were shown safety brief videos to keep health and safety forefront before embarking on the trampoline.

Aerobics

To stay healthy, exercise holds a top position along with a healthy diet. We had some aerobics to improve the flexibility of the body, muscular strength and cardiovascular (heart) health.

Sack race relay

It was fun and competitive. Members of the team had to put their legs inside a sack. They were required to jump forward inside the sack from the starting point to the other end of the pitch.

Tugging war

Humans of the Park were set up against each other in a test of strength. It was a tale of the beauty of our muscles was slain upon high places: how are the mighty fallen? Tell it not at Upbeat Centre! 😆 😆 😆

Walk the plank

The team faced the challenge of walking, as a team, on two planks with rope handles.

Mine Field

Team members were blindfolded and expected to get to the finish line while getting past obstacles on the way, relying only on a team member’s voice to guide them.

Football

Playing football with your feet is one thing, but playing football with your heart is another thing. After the football match, one thing was clear: Inspiring a football team isn’t easy. Kudos to the winning team!

Trampoline (dodge ball challenge/foam pit and wall climbing)

Humans of the park were ready to smack with a dodgeball.

Main course and Dessert

It would have been next to impossible to miss out on the delicious meal we had.

Cup stack up challenge

This challenge was set up to challenge agility and creative thinking. A representative from each team was required to stack up cups in a pyramid shape and then dismantle it within a specified time.

Chinese whispers

It was a great exercise to learn about the value of breaking complex information down into memorable and easily actionable chunks. So funny gestures emerged from cleaning of mouth to blowing kisses and saluting.

Sneak a peek

One person from each team was selected to view a hidden object or sculpture. They only had 10 secs at a time to peek at the image and must relay the information to the rest of their team.

Awards and Recognition

People feel motivated when their hard work and efforts get appreciated. This year, we had the following award categories

1. TEAM OF THE YEAR

2. Best office outlook (Male category)

3. Best office outlook (Female category)

4. Excellence in Humor and Entertainment (employee who keeps morale high and makes people look forward to a day at the office)

5. The Behind the Scenes Wonder (employee whose quiet daily management makes everything go smoothly for everyone else)

6. The Human Handbook (employee who always seem to be up on policy, trends, events, and rules)

7. Office Parent (employee who can’t help but act like a mum or Dad)

8. Calm in the Eye of the Storm (employee who shows resilience when things are hectic.)

9. Prankster award (employee with funny jokes and a huge sense of humour)

10. Fitness Freak (employee with an obsession for hitting the gym and healthy living)

Team of the Year (Software Development)

Guess what? It was a rib-cracking moment when some humans of the Park decided to have a photo session for those who didn’t win an award! Lol. These guys no dey disappoint me!

Dance

The unbelievable happened right before our eyes! We couldn’t look away! Humans of the Park rocked the dance floor.

Getting home safely

Ensuring everyone gets home safe after the party was a priority.

We had a blast at Upbeat Centre and are extremely excited about 2020!
