PARKWAY PROJECTS CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY
“We must become the change we seek.”
Today is International Men’s Day, a worldwide event that shines the spotlight on men who make a positive difference whilst highlighting issues they face.
It’s that time of the year to recognize the sacrifices made by men daily in their role as a husband, father and others towards their families, for their friends, for their communities and the nation.
HOW WE CELEBRATED MEN IN THE PARK
For Humans of the Park, we wanted to make our men feel special! We turned the sticky notes into a powerful tool with some magical words. The Head of People Operations, Mrs Kehinde Oyalowo on behalf of the company also gave an appreciation speech to celebrate all men.
You’d be amazed by these appreciation notes. Our female colleagues pulled some magical, funny and emotional words to celebrate the men.
Guess what? The men were thrilled by the appreciation notes. Lots of laughter and name-calling happened as expected. Thanks to all the female staff who made this happen. We’re looking forward to next year!
Here’s why it matters
Current research tells us that:
1. men have a suicide rate 3 times higher than women
2. 1 in 3 men have been the victims of domestic violence
3. men on average die 4–5 years before women
4. men are nearly twice as likely to suffer from lung cancer than women
5. men are nearly twice as likely to suffer from heart disease than women
