BBC and LEGO just dropped a huge bombshell

Ever wanted to build your own Top Gear vehicles in LEGO? Dream no more! Teaming up with BBC Studios, LEGO is launching the first ever Top Gear LEGO set in early 2020!

Jason Easy, Head of Licensing UK, BBC Studios said, ‘We are extremely excited to have partnered with LEGO Technic. Both brands enjoy a very close relationship with their fans, it’s certainly a natural fit for both and we’re really looking forward to seeing the LEGO Technic Set hit the shelves next year.’

Eloise Bradley, Senior Licensing Manager, The LEGO Group also said, ‘Bringing LEGO Technic and BBC Top Gear together will be a dream come true for car fans all over the world. We’re looking forward to working with BBC Top Gear to bring some amazing innovative engineering to life — stay tuned!’

This set belongs to the LEGO Technic category, inspired by the the show, including many playable features designed after the real Top Gear TV invention. Given being a Technic model, chances are we may not see the minifigures of the trio in this set. However, some say the upcoming set is only the first one going under the Top Gear theme, it’s still possible that we will see James’s stripy purple rugby shirt printed on the little LEGO minifig torso in the future.

Okay, clearly we do not have any picture of the mysterious Top Gear set, but we’ve got something (in a way) equally intriguing for you!

In January 2015, this video went viral as BBC started to promote the Series 22 of Top Gear, just 2 months before the trio left the show. And it kind of shows us how it can be like if you do immortalise the trio (and the Stig!) in LEGO.

And on that bombshell…

Which Top Gear challenge vehicle do you think the set will be based on?
