What if I told you that agriculture is the major contributor to soil degradation? Agriculture is affecting 52% of the world’s agricultural land and on top of that, modern agricultural practices produce food that is increasingly deficient in essential nutrients for the human body, which has become a serious problem of malnutrition worldwide. But Agrifort has arrived to face all these problems.

Esteban Guardiola, co-founder of Agrifort, has a master’s degree in biotechnology, and he is currently developing his PhD research project on different fertilization protocols to improve food quality and agricultural sustainability. He first started in bio-entrepreneurship with a project called DNAid, which consisted of a molecular diagnostic device for plant diseases. This first approach to the agricultural sector helped Esteban to identify many more problems related to plant nutrition… this is how Agrifort was born.

Agrifort develops lines of biofertilization, nanofertilization and foliar fertilization products capable to increase the nutritional quality of food and improve agricultural productivity. The biofertilizers of Agrifort are formulated using native beneficial microorganisms that promote plant growth through multiple mechanisms.

The nanofertilizers consist of iron, zinc and titanium nanoparticles produced by biological methods, they improve the plant nutrition efficiency and the micronutrient content. Finally, the foliar fertilizers are liquid nutrient suspensions composed of extracts of agro-industrial residues, micronutrients and phytohormones, they promote the rapid and direct absorption of nutrients by the plants.

Agrifort’s main purpose is to guarantee safe and effective solutions to generate a positive impact on people’s health and improve modern agricultural practices.
