A West Indian short story from the podcast, Parrotbeetie.
Two young girls, Nemi and Madeira, held each other’s hands tightly as they walked through the dark jungle. Nemi struggled to break through the low-lying branches and shrubs, whimpering as they broke against her small body and cut her pink and white dress. Madeira caught her younger sister as she stumbled, her hands finding Nemi’s face in the darkness.
