Block Ape Scissors is a pioneering gaming studio, paving the way for innovation in the integration of blockchain technology within the gaming sector. By blending the traditional gaming experience with decentralized technology, they aim to enhance user experience and promote inclusivity among players.

However, as the game experiences growth and integrates further with blockchain, there were vital data challenges that needed to be addressed. This was where their collaboration with PARSIQ began.

Challenge

The Block Ape Scissors project faced multiple challenges as they worked to release their alpha:

  1. They needed a low-latency API for quick and efficient player icon retrieval. The current on-chain read and retrieval process were slow, negatively impacting the user experience.
  2. Reliable Web3 Data indexing was required. Having an in-house solution was both expensive and challenging, pulling away resources from the primary development of the game.
  3. The team also sought a solution to abstract AccountIDs. For the release of the alpha, they wanted a system where gamester NFTs could be tied with generated account IDs without associating them directly with wallets or Epic Games Accounts, ensuring user privacy.
