Tsunami API Development Update: Arbitrum Classic Fully Indexed
Just over two weeks ago, we announced that our Tsunami API was live on Arbitrum. This meant that our users had access to real-time and historical data to Arbitrum’s updated Nitro chain.
But if you think we’d be slowing down after an announcement like that, then you’ll need to think again!
Today, we’re proud to say that we’ve already made significant progress on expanding our Tsunami offerings, which now includes not only the entirety of Nitro but also the entirety of Arbitrum’s Classic chain as well, going all the way back to the genesis block.
What is the difference between Nitro and Classic?
Where Arbitrum’s Nitro is the latest and improved version of Arbitrum, their Classic chain was their original implementation of their layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, making transactions faster and cheaper.
But both chains are still very important! Together they represent the whole history of data on Arbitrum.
Yes, Nitro is the current, upgraded version of Arbitrum, but without access to Classic as well, calculating various statistics wouldn’t always be possible. There are a lot of addresses and contracts that were active on Classic. To get an accurate and full picture of the scene, you couldn’t leave these details out of your statistics. So, in many cases, you’ve got to have the full history of data!
What we’re offering now is truly a unique resource! There aren’t many providers that have indexed all of Arbitrum’s data. That means easy and instant access to all of this specific data has been hard to come by. We’re proud to say that we’ve just changed that!
And don’t forget! As we noted in the initial announcement, the Tsunami API doesn’t simply give developers access to all of this data. It also provides the ability to apply filtration mechanisms, allowing for the querying of the whole of the blockchain history, for example, by sender, receiver, contracts it interacted with by topic, etc. Providing raw data — both real-time and historical — enables platforms to track any kind of events, calls, transfers, transactions, blocks, and to calculate metrics, or statistics they desire, such as TVL, liquidity, current and historical token prices, APR, APY, ROI, and more.
