How to Format a Podcast Script

I see a lot of new podcasters asking questions about things like writing and formatting a script, so I thought we’d take a few minutes to go over the types of scripts that podcasters use.

Unlike when you do a film or stage script, a podcast script will really only be seen by the people that are reading or working with it, and perhaps whoever does your audio (depending on the type of script), so you don’t have to put a lot of effort into some specialized formatting.

That said, you do need to find out a format that works for you and your team. That way recording will be as easy as possible. So, let’s go over some options!

Types of Podcast Scripts

Podcast scripts vary based on the style of show you run and your own personal preferences. Not everyone needs a word-for-word script but some people don’t do so well with simple outline notes.
