You’re probably wondering why there’s a photo of our CEO in a helmet above. You might be thinking, why is he in a coffee shop? What am I supposed to be voting for? Why do I care about this?
The answers to all of these questions are pretty simple.
1) Our Founder & CEO Bryan Derbyshire rules. He rules so hard that he was just nominated as Insurance Nexus Innovation Leader of the Year. 8 others were nominated for this award and we’re sure they’re rad, but they’re not Bryan. 2) Helmets are cool. You should always wear a helmet when biking, skateboarding, snowboarding, driving a NASCAR stock car, or when shooting a video about a NASCAR race.
3) You’re voting for Innovation Leader of the Year. In their own words “This award recognizes an individual who led an exceptionally innovative project or transformation in 2018, from any organization. Insurance Nexus would like to recognize the carriers, vendors, and leaders daring to risk and lead the path on insurance innovation.” (Bryan is daring. Like super daring. He once drove a boat wearing a NASCAR helmet.)
4) You care because awards are cool and shouldn’t just be given out to random folks. Bryan has built this company from a couple of guys thinking about how to change live-events, to a bustling office of 30, with employees spread out across 6 states, and a team eyeing international partnerships, all while we’re creating bleeding-edge tech. He’s only worn the helmet a few times. He let us buy T-Rex costumes and we get to drive boats.
