This September 13 (which is a Friday, btw šŸ˜) a conference will take place in Theater Amsterdam (dubbed ā€œMost impressive Conference Venue I have ever been toā€ by creator of Vue.js Evan You).

Theater Amsterdam ā€” the venue for React Live Amsterdam

This time around the focus will be on live coding with React on the immensely large screen. You can expect 13+ presentations from the Worldā€™s leading React & React Native developers covering best principles and tools of the React ecosystem. In particular you will hear talks about React animations with SVG, state management with React hooks, React design patterns, React 16 updates with the newest releases, as well as plenty of other goodies.

This time MC of the day will be no other than Sara Vieira. If you happened to visit VueJs Amsterdam earlier this year in February, you might remember her. Coming across with her wits and generally a laid back attitude she engaged the crowd and helped speakers to feel at ease marking a truly great community experience that day. What is more, she has a fascinating website letting visitors to play with GraphQL queries that basically allow you to query her CV.

I got in touch with Sara recently and asked her a couple of questions to let the readers and potential conference attendees to get to know her better.

Sara Vieira

Tell us briefly about yourself and how did you become a developer and a public speaker?

I always have had a passion for computers. I remember helping my father build his website when I was 16 and I just fell in love with it. And, in terms of public speaking, I think we all have a similar story of wanting to share our knowledge with the world.

What are you working on at your current company/project?

I work on the frontend of CodeSandbox.

What OSS stuff/hobby projects have you been working on in the last 6 months?

CodeSandbox is also an Open Source Software project. And then there is QueerJS.

Is there anything in particular you love about React?

I love the expressive UI and the freedom to write things your way.

What do you think is the current biggest challenge facing React/React Native?

Growing with time and adopting new features being introduced in JavaScript.

If React/React Native hadnā€™t been invented, what would you be using?

VUE! It is great!

How many conferences have you spoken to in the past and what do you like about them the most?

Thatā€™s a very good question that I have no clue what to say :) I love meeting people with the same interestsā€¦ Honestly, the best thing about conferences is the people!

I see you are active on social media? What do you mainly use it for?

To share things I build. And also dumb things.

Have you ever been to Amsterdam, do you have any special plans for your free time there?

YES!

Our focus will be live coding, are you looking forward to it?

Actually I really like live coding

What would you like to tell all the people who are still deciding whether to come to the conference and hear your talk?

I am the MC! šŸ˜‚

Thank you for your time answering my questions and we all look forward seeing you on the stage in Amsterdam!
