How do Twin Flames become Twin Flames?

I was asked this question on Quora and wrote a long answer to it based on my work with Twin Flames clients. I am a past life regression hypnotherapist based in New Orleans and working in person and online with many clients who want to explore their past lives and history of their relationships.

Twin Flames became a very popular concept in the last 10 years. It is primarily based on Elizabeth Clair Prophet’s book ‘Twin Flames and Soulmates” published in 1999, plus she was a preacher on television with thousands of fans. She tried to bridge Christianity with Spiritualism and New Age. In her understanding Twin Flames were born together from a Monad (Cosmic Egg) and sent to Earth by God to learn lessons and ascend by uniting with Christ Consciousness, and later with each other. According to her book Twin Flames rarely incarnate together, only uniting in the last life on Earth. Another TV personality — Silvia Browne, the TV psychic, also talked about Twin Flames, but in her theory, they only unite between lives ‘On the Other Side”, and never incarnate together as people. Well, it seems there are PLENTY of Twin Flames incarnating together now, and many of these cases are validated by my hypnotherapy sessions. However, there is not just ‘one fits all” Twin Flame type, but several types I discovered in my hypnosis sessions when a client in deep trance goes through their past lives, and even to the birth of their soul.

I saw 4 different scenarios of how this can happen.

1. They can be born together from the original unit of energy — called Monad — as two individual souls, Cosmic Twins, traveling around the Universe together, but they eventually separate, and started incarnating in physical bodies apart from each other. When they come to Earth — each gets its own Soul group and Soulmates. This is a “classic version” of Twin Flames, who can only incarnate together at the end of the reincarnation cycle to help each other ascend and stop reincarnating. They have to finish Soulmate contracts and pay all karmic debts before they can unite. After they achieve Union — they do not have to reincarnate anymore, but they can — if they want to help humanity — in this case, they will come as Ascended Masters without any veiling, and have access to all their past life memories and memories of their Union. Future lives on New Earth or higher dimensional planets, or staying in Spirit World as Guides for humans. I call this type “Earthling Monadics” as they are born from the Monad and reincarnate on Earth learning human lessons
2. An individual soul can “split” its energy into two or more fragments. This can be done on purpose — as parallel lives of the same soul, or it can be a result of trauma in the past life, when a fragment needs a lot of healing and stays behind in the spirit world for regeneration. I call them ‘Split Souls” — as these are fragments of the energy of one individual soul (or Oversoul if we want to be more precise with the terminology, as a sum of all energies and reincarnations of a soul) Split Souls had past lives as the same characters (one soul in one body). Plus they might have some lives separately from each other after they split. They also can have previous attempts to unite — but those usually end badly. After they achieve the Union — they join back into the same whole soul and incarnate as one being. Split Souls can be young or old souls, they are not necessarily ‘on the last life”, but it is also possible.
3. Extraterrestrial beings in human bodies. This is a very convoluted topic and there are many types of civilizations who send their members to Earth to help humanity. Some are “collective consciousnesses” where the whole civilization is one collective mind. Any two beings incarnated on Earth from such a group mind might have a spiritual awakening and full telepathy when meeting each other, as they are “one being” in many bodies. But there can be more than 2 of them — kinda like “Multiple Flames”. There are also civilizations where souls have individuality, and if 2 souls who are a couple of closest friends from such a civilization come to Earth — they can feel like ‘Twin Flames” here…They are typically called Starseeds, but I use the term “Starseed Monadics” for 2 souls who were created from the Monad and reincarnated on other worlds before coming to Earth, and “ET hive minds” for the collective consciousness occupying several bodies on Earth.
4. Two energy beings sent directly from the Source (God) on a mission to Earth, similar to Monadic Twins, but there is no history of any reincarnations. Both came from God directly and will go back to God after death. Uniting helps them to achieve their mission. Since they came directly from God — they have no soul group, no karma, powerful healing abilities, and usually no other serious relationships but each other. Their births families are chosen for them, as a good fit to raise a special child. They often hear positive voices — God, Angels, Madonna, Jesus since childhood, and go into a very deep trance and start channeling in hypnosis sessions, and often do not remember anything on awakening…(I guess in other religions they might channel other beings, but I only had sessions with Christians in this category).
