Brainstorming the philantropy application

The group got together a friday and held workshop during the afternoon. We were tasked with brainstorming as we were in the early phases of the project and supposed to broaden our approach as to not miss anything yet.

The things nailed down in advance were 1) monthly donations 2) ask them for their ‘engagement’ and not their ‘wallet’. With that we handed each member three sheets to test out new ideas and report back in 40 min.

The outcome was quite interesting and we had a second round were we evaluated and refined the idéas we liked the best for the upcoming crit session ~ Mari and a very design friendly concept where she explored a pseudo-class system were people could contribute either ‘money’, ‘time’ or ‘passion’ depending on their profile. An mid-career user with a family might have little time on his hands but still want to help, conversely a student might have more time but less resources. This lent itself well to designing personas (later in the post).

My own concept was to use the donated money for more responsible consumption. That whenever you had the choice between a 15 kr Fairtrade option and a 10 kr default option, that 5 kr difference ought to be treated as a donation deducted from your Green wallet. The concept stressed that it was a lifestyle choice and targeted your base consumption, something we can all related to. This had a broad demographic appeal that many in the group liked.
