At PatientBank, we help people gather and share medical records online. Recently we’ve seen a surge in growth from doctors and lawyers requesting medical records for patients. We love that these groups are embracing our platform, and I’m excited to share a new feature that we hope will make it even easier for them to use PatientBank.

Previously, as a doctor, lawyer or another third party, you had to download a PatientBank request and get it signed by a patient before sending it to another provider. Not anymore! In this post I’m going to show you how third parties can now request medical records entirely online—in 3 easy steps.

Step 1: Create a medical records request

Head over to PatientBank to initiate a new medical records request. Search for a doctor, clinic or hospital to request from, then indicate your relationship to the patient. In this case, I’m going to say I’m the patient’s physician.

Step 1: Create a PatientBank request and indicate you’re the patient’s physician

Step 2: Send a signature link to the patient

After creating and reviewing your request, you can now choose to let the patient sign it electronically. We make it easy for the patient to sign either on a computer or phone, so you can choose to send the signature link via email or SMS. When the patient signs the request, it will be automatically sent to the selected doctor or hospital with the patient’s signature on the request. No printing, faxing, scanning, or mailing necessary!

Step 2: Enter the patient’s email or phone number to send a signature link

Step 3: Wait for the patient to sign the request

The patient will receive a secure link to sign the request via email or SMS. After clicking the link, the patient will review the request and sign electronically. The request is completed the moment they sign, and you will soon get an email notifying you that your request has been faxed or emailed.

Step 3: Take a break and wait for the patient to sign the request

And that’s it — you’re done! Your request has been sent by PatientBank to the provider. Both you and the patient will get a confirmation with the signed request and everything proceeds as normal.

Use this feature now

We’re really excited to ease the process of requesting medical records for doctors and lawyers! To get started, search for the patient’s doctor or hospital with PatientBank, and we’ll help you request records for free.

If you’re a doctor or lawyer and have feedback or questions about this feature, we’d love to hear from you! Drop us a line at support@patientbank.us or give us a call at (855) 972–8436.
