Save the Laguna Pitbulls’ nurturing of their rescues is proof that dogs raised in a loving environment will evolve into caring pets. It’s just like what this photo says, “The breed isn’t the problem. The owner is.”

This project was created back in March 2012, when 266 pit bulls were rescued from an illegal dog-fighting syndicate run by Koreans. These rescued pit bulls were found in very pitiful conditions: “They were cruelly chained to posts buried in filthy mud with nothing more than cut-out steel drums for shelter. They were terribly malnourished, many with wounds inflicted during dog-fighting. Many were suffering from exposure to the elements. Despite medical care, many dogs perished or had to be put to sleep to end their suffering.”

Offset the horrible cruelty inflicted on these dogs by helping Save the Laguna Pitbulls. There are many ways to do so. You can volunteer to help out in the facility, you can contribute funds or food to help offset the costs of running the sanctuary, you can sponsor a pittie, or you can even adopt a rescue.

  • Note that all potential pet parents will be screened carefully, which is understandable especially since people have been known to discard dogs when they tire of them. Adopting one should not be a passing fancy. Please realize that you will need to feed, walk, and nurture your pooch for at least a decade.
