A brief introduction to the American “human potential movement” for a university Humanistic Psychology course. Unfortunately, and with great embarrassment. I forgot to mention an important element: the human potential movement attempted to go beyond the deficiency model of personal development. That is, instead of going from deficient to normal, the end goal was maximizing potential.
