Progress and Conservation

That which we call progressive does not foster progress;
that which we call conservative does not foster conservation.
True progress comes thru knowing our limitations,
respecting the deep knowledge within tradition,
and making adjustments along those boundaries.
True conservation comes thru identifying poisons we hold dear,
freeing ourselves from their grasp,
and keeping only the good within tradition.
Like yin and yang
conservation and progress foster each other.
When we see the other as our enemy,
all progress and conservation are lost.
