Some finished, some still in progress. But book reviews for all are coming…

Current progress as of July 11th, 2017

Accountability is one of the best motivators. So starting from July 2017 I would be sharing my reading list for the month and following up with book reviews of all the books I would manage to finish in that month. Last month after gradually quitting all social media distractions I found myself with additional 1hour a day I now use for my life long passion of reading.

This month list:
The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, and Take Command of Your Life by Bernard Roth — Roth is one of the founders of Stanford’s d.school and considered to be one of creators of design thinking. Let this serve as a teaser: I like this book so much I am re-reading it.

Designing Bots. Creating Conversational Experiences by Amir Shevat — This one is very much work related. It helps organize and structure design process if you, like myself, design conversational interfaces. Upon my designer friends request review is coming soon.

Contagious: Why Things Catch On by Jonah Berger — Marketing bestseller, but with a ton of insights for product development and growth hacking strategies. For now, I liked it more than Hooked.

Interviewing Users. How to Uncover Compelling Insights by Steve Portigal — Recommended as a must-read for all UX researchers. I miss doing hand-on research so this would serve as nostalgic reminder how to do it right.

Yes, design thinking or UX literature dominates this month selection. So one can say those are books for work, but as some say if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life 😎 (cliche I know). In the following months will try to revisit some of my favorite sociology and journalism classics as well as venture into the field of computer science.

If you have any suggestions for design, research, sociology, journalism or computer science books, let me know in comments. I am always looking for inspiration.
