For one to qualify to be a Google Education Trainer, one needs to first of all study and pass Google for Education Exams and Certifications. Qualifying candidates are then required to demonstrate there mastery of Google Apps and other EDU tools .Here is how to qualify for this Certification.

Who’s a good fit for this program?

Google Education Trainers are demonstrated advocates of Google web technologies who show:

  • A strong history of Google training in schools
  • Engaging public speaking skills
  • An ability to distill content into creative, informative learning materials
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the role of technology in education

Preferred qualifications:

  • A contributor to the larger edtech community via blogs, social media, or other networks
  • Knowledge of other edtech web technologies; supporter of web-based learning

Application requirements

Applications are accepted and reviewed on a quarterly basis. The application for the spring cohort of trainers is now open. You can apply here. The deadline to apply for the spring cycle is May 16th at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time.

Google Education Trainer applicants are evaluated on the following requirements:

Google knowledge

  • Have previously achieved Google Educator or ‘Qualified Individual’ status. For the spring application, we will be accepting any Google Educator or Qualified Individual Certificates achieved after January 2013. You will be required to upload a PDF of your certificate.

Training experience

  • Upload a copy of an updated training resume highlighting any relevant work experience; training and speaking sessions; and any other awards or certifications. Please limit your resume to 2 pages.
  • Provide 3 references for trainings you’ve delivered in the past 12 months. These references should ideally be from 3 different training sessions and/or organizations. Your references may be contacted.

Training style and strategy

  • Submit a 2-minute video showcasing your training skills. The video should highlight one feature of Google Apps for Education, Chromebooks, Chrome, or Tablets with Play for Education. Videos should be publicly viewable on YouTube and cannot exceed the time limit. Screencasts are preferred.
  • Create a case study using the following template (http://goo.gl/Z1XdEu). The case study should include sample learning materials and give us a good understanding of your training strategy, including planning, implementation and evaluation. Please ensure that your case study is viewable by anyone with the link (check your Google Docs sharing settings before submitting).

The summer application will open on June 9th and the deadline for submissions will be August 15. We will be accepting any Google Educator or Qualified Individual certificates that are still valid (not expired) for this cycle.

Maintaining your authorization As a representative of Google and the Google brand, Google expects you to act with professionalism and integrity in your customer relationships. In addition, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Maintain Google Educator status every 18 months
  • Commit to conducting at least 3 professional development activities related to Google tools every quarter
  • Report all training activities and evaluations quarterly to Google
  • Contribute learning materials and support to the Google Education Trainer community
  • Collect data on training sessions and use that information to increase personal effectiveness
