DigitalOcean continues its rise as an ‘alternative’ cloud for developers and SMBs

Over the last several years, DigitalOcean (DO) has built out its feature set in a way that has taken it from a provider of cheap and simple virtual machines (VMs) to a legitimate public IaaS cloud alternative. One of the DO’s biggest vantage points has always been the “ease and simplicity” of its billing and resources management. As some of the early adopters of DO;’s cloud , we have run a multiple of internal and external l web applications , systems and websites.

The predictability of DO’s pricing and its infrastructure reliability and versatility gave us so much peace that when some of our normal SaaS customers started running into troubles with their traditional/legacy/shared hosting plans, they all ran to us for help. Naturally, we all but recommended DO but that was not enough for our customers. They insisted, we not only “give them what we use, but set them up” as we have set ourselves. So began our journey of “managing DO services” for our customers.

SMBs can easily end up overpaying for infrastructure they don’t need.

The Move to the Cloud has everyone “looking into the cloud” in someway. But many end up with idle resources and astronomical bills to boot in the first few months. Many end up “cursing the cloud” and returning back to status quo. This does not have to be the experience to the cloud. Digitalocean’s SMB focused cloud offers SMBs exactly what they need; Simplicity and Predictability of the cloud resources consumed and pricing for the same. This means SMBs can budget for their cloud bills and yet knowing what to expect in terms of performance.
