In a big push towards a cashless economy, our government recently launched the Bharat QR. Bharat QR will use QR codes to facilitate payments across all merchant outlets. It is the world’s first interoperable payment system.
What is Bharat QR?
Bharat QR is a QR based mobile payment solution for P2M (Person to Merchant) transactions. It is developed by NPCI in collaboration with Visa and MasterCard payment networks. Once deployed, BharatQR code would require merchants to only display one QR code instead of multiple ones. Any user can pay the bills using BharatQR enabled mobile banking apps without sharing any user credentials to the merchant.
How to use BharatQR to make payment
Download: To make payment via BharatQR, a consumer will simply have to download and register on any Bharat QR enabled app or BHIM app in their phones.
Scan: Scan the merchant QR at the outlet or website.
Pay: Make payment with UPI or Debit Cards.
Once the payment is successful, both cardholder and merchant receive notification in the mobile application for a successful transaction.
