The real veterans know that businesses aiming to solve real life problems are the ones that create great value, both in the material as well as non-material sense. Problems can be diverse, they can be specific to demographies, they can also be geography limited. However, the most challenging ones are those that transcend boundaries, territories, communities as well as time. The most significant ones are those that are faced daily by society and are hard to solve in an industry due to the factors that exist by default.
The quote above highlights some very important aspects and one of them is the undeniable truth about the level of impact (something that is buzzing through the whole software industry) that great design can have. Another underlying inference that comes out of it is that technology is merely an enabler that is meant to delight the users via a beautiful layover (that we call design in the broad sense). It is interesting to note that most people actually realize in hindsight that life is very simple, if they take a moment to reflect.
