We are excited to announce we are running a mega-marketing campaign of Rs. 200–250 crores to increase the adoption of Paytm at offline retail stores. In this campaign, we are educating our large consumer base to scan any QR code of any company from the Paytm app to make the instant payment. This move will further benefit the small kirana stores as they are well-versed with the digital payments and are now receiving money directly into their bank accounts.

Paytm revolutionised the digital payments industry when we launched the QR-based payment method and on-boarded millions of neighbourhood stores to accept digital payments. It was the very first moment in Indian history when a small shopkeeper could also accept digital payments without investing in a POS (Point-of-Sale) machine. Our success became an inspiration for America’s Google and Facebook’s Whatsapp to launch payment services in India. While our app has a large use-case from bill payments to travel bookings, other apps are still relying on incentivised P2P model.

We believe in providing flexibility to our users to choose their preferred mode of payment. Now with interoperable UPI, they also get the flexibility to scan any QR code through their Paytm app for instant payments.

Today, more and more users are linking their bank accounts with Paytm UPI and are conveniently paying at their neighbourhood stores, restaurants, fuel stations, pharmacies, hospitals, etc. Our aim is to continue to innovate, add new features and enhance our customer’s experience.
