What are the different types of statements & what are their uses for you?

  1. ELSS Tax Statement:
    If you are investing in ELSS funds via Paytm Money, you will be able to generate this statement as your investment proof.

What information does it have?
The ELSS Tax Statement is a quick transaction summary of all your successful investments in ELSS funds to date as well as the scheduled investments (SIPs only) for the financial year.

2. Portfolio Summary/Statement:

Your portfolio statement is a brief summary of your total investments till date, and the current value of the same, along with Absolute Returns. Absolute returns are the returns earned on your investments over a period of time. This can be both positive or negative, and is expressed in percentage.
The returns you earn over a year on your investments are called annualized returns.

What all information does it have?

  • Units: The number of mutual fund units that you hold at present
  • Current Value: The value of your initial investment at present
  • Absolute Returns: The exact amount of returns on the initial investment, these can be positive or negative.

Unsold Portfolio Gain/Loss:

  • Distribution between equity & debt categories, this section is an elaborate view of unsold gains or losses for each scheme & investment.

3. Transaction Statement: This statement gives you a comprehensive view of all your mutual fund investments & withdrawals done so far.

What information does it have?

  • Folio No.: This is a unique number to identify your holdings with the respective mutual fund.
  • Type of transaction: Whether this is a purchase (SIP/Lump sum) or a withdrawal type of transaction.
  • Units, Amount, NAV: The amount you invested, the number of units you purchased & the Net Asset Value you purchased them at.
  • Status: The status of your successful transactions is depicted in this column.

This statement also has your active SIPs, with their respective date, day of SIP, start date & frequency.

4. Realised Gains / Loss Statement: This is a summary of the gains or losses realised on your investments. Please note that this statement can only be generated if you have withdrawn from any of your investments (or sold the units), as you will have realised gains (or losses) only on sold investments.

5. Investment Insights: This statement provides insights on mutual fund investment holdings, their allocation by categories & more.

What information does it have?

For starters, it provides a snapshot of your portfolio size & the current value of the same, & indicates the absolute returns on the same.

  • Category Allocation: This section of the statement indicates the main & sub categories of the schemes which you have invested in, along with the allocation percentage.
  • AMC Allocation: The Asset Management Company allocation is a display of the funds across AMCs, with the designated percentage alongside.
  • Company Allocation: A distribution to depict which companies and in what measure are your mutual funds invested in.
  • Sector Allocation: Which sectors are these investments made in & in what measure.
  • Ratings: How is each scheme rated on a scale of 5, by MorningStar, CRISIL & Value Research.
