Truman meet Truman
“Have you considered the possibility that everything is not REAL?” His face still like a puddle. I raised my eyebrows and shrugged my shoulders.
“What do you mean?”
“I want to tell you something I’ve never told anyone before. You’re going to think I’m crazy, but that’s alright too. Just listen. I’m convinced that everything we see is a simulation. The matrix real, my friend. There are a lot of clues, such as the uncertainty principle, which is simply a form of lazy loading, or the emptiness of space, or the existence of dark matter! However, I don’t believe there are infinite levels of simulation. We are probably only a few levels deep.”
“I’ve had similar thoughts before. Now, let me ask YOU a question. Are you convinced that you are the protagonist of the story? That everyone else, everything else, is lazy loaded only when you are conscious and at the location?”
My question caught him completely by surprise, and his expression told me that he and I had been thinking the same way for a long time already.
