Moon Joins Celo’s Alliance for Prosperity

We’re happy to announce that we’re teaming up with The Celo Foundation and joining the Alliance for Prosperity, a network of over 50 organizations including A16z, Coinbase and Abra, that aims to catalyze financial inclusion through blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.

The Alliance for Prosperity will partake in Blockchain-enabled social good projects with an aim to make a positive impact on the world through fintech ventures.

The Celo Foundation is a nonprofit organization supporting the development and implementation of the Celo open blockchain platform. Their keystone project is the Celo Dollar stablecoin.

Celo is a great fit for Moon, and vice versa. We think it’s important to support stablecoins, and we’re kicking that off with Celo. The Celo Dollar isn’t just for trading; it’s a cryptocurrency that’s designed to be used as a medium of exchange.

Our role is to enable payments use cases for Celo’s stablecoin, cUSD, as we believe stablecoins will play a big role in the mainstream adoption of crypto.

Boasting a globally diverse member group, the Alliance for Prosperity’s goal is to help establish a truly open and borderless financial system, one that allows people to attain financial freedom no matter their geography or socioeconomic status.

Many parts of the developing world face difficulties with their ability to make payments and participate in the modern financial system. This includes shopping at eCommerce retailers, which continues to grow in popularity — and necessity — every year.

That’s where we think Moon, The Celo Foundation, and cryptocurrency can help. Our goal is to help users shop anywhere from anywhere with sound, digital money. With this partnership, we think we’re one step closer to our goal.
