Enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) comes in many forms, from powerful voice assistant and chatbot technologies to machine learning (ML) and computer vision solutions. Each of these technologies can be used individually or in combination to help businesses of all sizes automate processes and tackle tedious tasks.

Small to midsize businesses (SMBs) and enterprises can face a lot of challenges when trying to find the right AI solution for their needs during different stages of growth. According to recent research on AI adoption in the enterprise from O’Reilly Media, 47 percent of survey respondents said they need people to help identify use cases for AI. Luckily, customer relationship management (CRM) solutions provider Salesforce has introduced a new website called Einstein’s Guide to AI Use Cases that aims to help them. The website can walk businesses through their options based on their key performance indicators (KPIs) and desired results, providing viable AI applications and solutions.

Finding an AI Fit from 50+ Examples

Salesforce is leveraging its industry experience and AI expertise to help customers on their AI journey. Launched in October 2019, Einstein’s Guide to AI Use Cases is an interactive website that works on any desktop or mobile browser. It features more than 50 in-depth examples of situations in which AI can be successfully applied, depending on what areas businesses are focusing on. More than a website aimed at demystifying AI in all its facets, Einstein’s Guide to AI Use Cases provides a solid foundation on the various elements and features of each branch of AI thanks to easy-to-understand documents and videos.

The real draw of the interactive website, the company says, is that it helps businesses determine the best AI solution based on their desired objective. “Building, implementing, and adopting AI is difficult,” wrote Sarin Devraj, Associate Product Marketing Manager for Salesforce Einstein, in a blog post that announced its website solution. “From talking to countless customers and building the products ourselves, our Einstein team at Salesforce has identified three main adoption hurdles for AI in business. [The first one is] identifying a viable use case and having the data to support it. [The second one is] addressing change within employee workflows and embracing new technology. [And the third one is] trusting whether the AI is correct and aligns with company values.” Einstein’s Guide to AI Use Cases presents an easy-to-use and accessible starting point to see what’s available in enterprise AI and how it can solve business problems.

Drilling Down Einstein’s AI Selection Process

Businesses visiting Einstein’s Guide to AI Use Cases can start by clicking on a “New to AI” button, which invokes a pop-up screen in the lower right-hand side where visitors can view videos and definitions of the different types of AI. “We have a how-to series of guides to get started with AI across different lines of business,” said Devraj. “There are examples for enterprise AI: how to improve your sales department, customer service, marketing, and commerce. We have short videos showing the different ways AI helps different areas of the business.”

The first step is determining which part of an organization needs an AI solution. The selections are broken down into Commerce, Finance, Human Resources, Sales, Service, and Marketing. Choosing Marketing leads users to the next phase, which is called “Which KPI Matters Most to Your Business?” A KPI becomes the driving factor for choosing an AI solution.

In the Marketing track, there’s Campaign ROI, Conversion Rate, and Lead Generation. When I checked out the website, I chose Lead Generation and was then led to four different use cases. I selected “Predict Lead Generation Based on Buying Intent.”

The result was a comprehensive “Prediction” page that listed the objective and training data of the case, a summary of the use case in action (which is a company with similar primary KPI), and the solution for the case, including whether or not they attained the desired results.

There’s also a product demo, which links to the suggested solution within Salesforce’s website. “You click the product demo video and you can actually see a demo of our chatbot solution,” said Devraj. “The demo explains how you can build a similar solution it in four easy steps.”

Einstein’s Guide to AI Use Cases also serves as a sales tool by helping various stakeholders present AI solutions to their board or managers. Salesforce plans to continue adding content and use cases to give businesses guidance and inspiration on which AI path to take. While Salesforce’s Einstein’s Guide to AI Use Cases may not be able to help all businesses find the right AI implementation, it does help serve as a repository of valid use cases that can help most businesses determine their needs.
