We are now mere days away from launching PDF Generator API. What this experience has taught us is that one cannot leave anything up to chance when planning a successful product launch – all the materials need to be ready and the launch day planned out to the minute. It is also of great help to have a hunter that is familiar with the scene and knows how the community works. By combining our networks, we are able to hopefully get our product the maximum amount of exposure on launch day. But let’s take a look at what got us here.
When our founder Tanel approached me with the idea of launching PDF Generator API on Product Hunt neither of us had the faintest idea of how to make it happen. So we started digging through the depths of the internet to find a good guide to make it happen. Luckily there are many step-by-step instructions on the web – one of them being Product Hunts own. We also took a look at one by Foundr Magazine. Once we were able to wrap our heads around the topic, it was time to get the product itself in to top shape – this meant fine-tuning the product to all that it can be in this iteration at least :) As we completed the product side of the equation, we had to get to work on marketing. Afterall – launching on PH is mostly a marketing endeavour. This meant commissioning videos, producing landing pages, so once the bell rings – we are up to par with everything and all we have to do is push the pedal. This also meant gathering all the contacts we have made over the years that could give us a good boost in upvotes on the launch day. To evoke some positive press coverage we have also spent the past couple of days getting a press kit together to be sent to industry-related publications – product descriptions, screenshots, packages and pricing details are all ready to be sent out on launch day.
