Hoffman entered her junior season with the Eagles primed to have a big year. She dedicated her time away from her studies to get in the best possible shape she could be in come spring. The University of Maryland commit worked with a personal trainer from September to February.

The hard work has paid off. Hoffman (47 goals and 19 assists, 27 goals and 9 assists in April) has been a huge offensive weapon for coach Chris Robinson and the No. 1 McDonogh Eagles.

“I don’t know any kid who worked harder during the offseason to get ready for this year. Her quickness has improved. Her shot is a rocket. She can go both ways, right or left-handed. She has taken her game up another 5 notches.”

Hoffman seems to be the ignition for the offense for McDonogh. Recently, she dished in two goals to give the Eagles a three-point lead and the jolt the offense needed to get going against a tough Notre Dame Prep team.

The speedy midfielder said that playing for a team such as McDonogh, who has won 172 consecutive games dating back to 2009, is an experience only a few people can get to experience. “It’s an honor to play for this program. The program isn’t about just one team or one person. It’s bigger than all of us. It’s like a legacy. It’s something that has been going on for years and not one person defines it. It’s a group of girls that come together with the same passion.”
