On this week’s podcast, we discuss a new report from the AJC showing that nutrition assistance programs like SNAP provide less assistance to people in rural areas because of higher food prices. Despite the challenges people in need of food assistance face, the Trump administration is considering proposals that would take the program away from thousands of Georgians.

We also talk with Nabilah Islam, a Democratic candidate for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District, about the personal financial challenges she’s faced in running for office and how that shapes her views on student loans and health care.

The Trump administration finalized one of their food stamp rules change proposals after we recorded this week. You can read about that change here.
