The Pebble team was thrilled to attend GDC 2024 and the Sui Gaming Summit, a great opportunity to connect with the Pebble community and expand our presence among the Sui and developer communities. Keep reading to get all the details of our activities.
Play Beyond: Sui Gaming Summit
Our CEO, Sangho Kim gave a talk at the Sui Gaming Summit on March 19th titled ‘Web3 Ways Beyond Social Play: From Solid Ground to New Horizons.’ He shared valuable insights and lessons learned from over 20 years of operating and developing games under NHN. He emphasized the importance of balanced in-game economies and user-friendly UI/UX in Web3 games, all of which are embodied in the Pebble ecosystem.

Drawing on expertise in catering to users of all age groups, he underscored that Pebble City is poised to evolve into a true social casino game, fostering a real sense of community among its users. This vision is epitomized by the introduction of Casino Membership NFTs, allowing players to claim ownership stakes in the casino’s profits. Subsequently, he discussed how the technological prowess of the Sui blockchain enhances the Pebble ecosystem. Additionally, he outlined the forthcoming rollout of a marketplace powered by Sui Kiosk, empowering users to collect and trade NFTs of upcoming Pebble games.

GDC 2024
Our CEO and Chief Gaming Officer of NHN, Sangho Kim, joined the GDC session alongside the Co-founder of Mysten Labs, Adeniyi Abiodun, to discuss how South Korean web3 gaming giant NHN has embraced web3 through Pebble. He first highlighted NHN’s 20-year legacy in social casino games and its leadership in the Asia-Pacific market, with revenue reaching $335 million in 2023.
He further emphasized NHN’s particular focus on in-game economies and user-friendly UI/UX as players mature. Leveraging this expertise and innovative technologies of the Sui blockchain, he explained how Pebble’s first product, Pebble City, adds a twist to traditional slot games by integrating blockchain and adopting a unique game design where players can select the casino in which they wish to play social casino games.
