Art is looked at as something that only certain people can understand, but this is not true!

Art is universal, and everyone can understand it if they put their mind to it. It’s actually a simple concept at first. You use it to express yourself. From here, things can get difficult. You may wonder if the way you express yourself is not enough, or if the colors are off, or if the line art doesn’t look right. Doubt is just another word for progress, there will always be ups and downs. The most important thing is to not make doubt stop you from trying to get better.

Learning about art is not as hard as you think

There are many great ways to learn about art. Learning about art is very accessible. There are many great examples, some of which you have heard already.

Online ways of learning about art may be more accessible for many, rather than any other ways. Certain people want to learn about art in easy and affordable ways. YouTube and Skillshare are great examples of convenient learning.

On the other hand, there are people who want to learn in a more traditional way. Believe it or not, art is everywhere. This means you can find inspiration from nature and the world around you. Some have a hard time finding ways to learn from inspiration only. So they need guidance from more experienced individuals. Tutors or teachers are there to guide you through. You can also find a group of people that you feel comfortable enough to ask for help.

There are many ways people can learn about art, like from these examples, there are online and offline ways. This doesn’t affect the way you improve. However it depends on the person, they may like other ways more than others. You can explore different areas and ways to work around them, and find what’s best for you.

Does this artwork have a meaning?

Art is a way for you to express what you’re feeling, at any time of the day or night. Art should be a way for you to put your feelings and thoughts into paper, without using words. Some people find this easier than others. Art doesn’t always have to have a meaning; it’s just freedom of expression. But for those artists that like to imply meaning into their work, each piece can have different meanings and more than just one. Some pieces don’t seem like they have a meaning behind it at all, and it may not be obvious to the viewers. But then again, each person sees the world differently, so it’s only normal for it to apply to art, too. An example of a work of art that not a lot of people expected to have meaning would be The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo. This painting is well known because the artist is exceptional. At first glance, this painting gives off an angelic and godly vibe. However, that same godlike power is actually the representation of the human brain. This was the artist’s attempt to make an attack on the church’s contempt of science.

Self criticism is the key to improvement

Self criticism is important, especially for art. It makes you self aware about things you have to improve. It’s important not to overthink, as this will prevent you from thinking straight. Criticism is the key to realizing what you can do to make better improvements. Criticism can also be helpful from others. It gives you a different perspective from other opinions. You can take this into consideration and make changes around your work. And, if you find a balance between your ideas and criticism, you can improve more than what you expect.

Artist’s worst enemy…

Artist block is something many artists experience — not only artists, but any kind of specialty that involves creativity and a use of your imagination. It’s a time period where you’re “ blocked”. You can’t think of something to create that will be “good enough”. On the other hand, you get to rest a bit from creating new work, and sometimes during an art block, you may come across even more inspirational things to work on. Having an art block is completely normal, and it’s nothing to be worried about. At some point, everyone has to experience it.

So how will art benefit you?

Art is a wonderful way of expression, it just comes down to what is right for someone. Art gives you the freedom to say anything you want throughout a visual point of view, which gives you a sense of calmness and sanity. You will have ups and downs, and you will sometimes struggle, and sometimes you will be inspired and create many wonderful things. A key thing is inspiration and motivation. Keep finding inspiration, look around and get out of your comfort zone. That’s what makes a unique and successful artist.
