Peered Camp cohort 4.0 sponsored several classes of which python class was one. Over the years, the class has always started by first getting to know the students’ level of competence of the Python programming language, and testing them in their claimed level for confirmation and revision’s sake. PeeredCamp cohort 4.0 python class started from the basis of the python language having sampled the majority of the students to be beginners.

Two tutors led the class of which I was one. The class started with 2 students who were both from Obafemi Awolowo University. Two more joined the class later. They were both from Oduduwa University. During the course of the cohort, my duty was to give the test the students’ mastery of syntax, the semantics of the programming language and their application by giving them programming challenges which required them to use the tools learnt in other classes led by my colleague(Elisha Odemakin).

Along the way, they also learned about such things as code reading, error decoding, and most importantly, teamwork. As the classes progress, the programming problems also became progressively difficult and in no time, they realized teamwork and responsibility are essential to success. By working together, and sharing ideas during group activities, while each student is assigned learned the task at hand, they also learned responsibility and teamwork.

The students have varying levels of productivity. The students sometimes do what is required without any qualms and at other times, they are disruptive and non-cooperative. An example is that they do not do their assignments specially designed to enable them to learn to solve problems as an individual and to learn to ask logical questions especially by using Google search engine. The students were encouraged and corrected as a result of their actions and they had to be put through their difficulties in class.

At the end of the cohort, all students were taught how to progress with their learning and encouraged to never stop learning. Various questions by were also answered in unclear areas.
