Venue: Dynamic Earth, Holyrood Rd, Edinburgh EH8 8AS, United Kingdom
Time: 1 day ScotlandCSS, 2 days ScotlandJS
As we were newcomers to the ScotlandCSS & ScotlandJS, maybe we expected too much, but with a specialized CSS/JS conference you anticipate a bit more in-depth talks. Even though they were time-focused, some of the talks were somewhat superficial. On the other hand, the Q&A system (to get to know the speakers and ask them about their talk) directly following a block of three talks is a really bright idea, and it was very well organized. We feel this should be copied by a lot more conferences!

The venue was one of the tourist attractions of Edinburgh — Dynamic Earth — showcasing the development of earth itself. If you like dinosaurs, you have come to the right place. The organization was near perfect, almost no hiccups. Sadly, Peter Aitken (the organizer) will not continue with the conference, so it is unclear if it will get a reboot in the future.
Ticket prices were appropriate, food was included. Dietary requirements could be told to the venue staff. There are also other restaurants and pubs around, if you fancy something else. We recommend the “Hemma”, just two streets down the road.
Talks: 👌, but could still improve quality-wise
Awesome Stuff: speaker Q&A directly after the talks, whisky tasting & board games, dinosaurs in the venue
Venue: 💯
Coffee: 😞 (but enough for everyone!)
