Why Do You Overburden Your Mind?

People Can Be Cruel

Big shocker, right?

People can stab you in the places where your fresh wounds just healed.

People can say things that wander in your mind as you try to sleep.

People make themselves appear trustworthy, but they show their real faces when you're absent.

That's just how people are.

As sad as it may be,

it is the harsh world you and I live in. Our reality.

Now, my inquiry to you is quite simple, but will make you toss and turn in your bed tonight, as you ponder over it:

If people already test your patience and make you question your very own existence,

why do you torture yourself as well?

Why do you let those doubtful thoughts get to your head?

Why do you give in? Allowing the negativity to spread.

Poison your brain willingly. Why?

Why do you, consciously, think about things that

were never

will never

and can never be inside your control?

You force yourself to carry the world on your shoulders,

so much so, that deep wounds and scars appear.

Scars that, let's be honest, might never heal themselves.

Wounds, that will always stay open.

You indulge yourself in the most mentally draining conversations.

I find it truly mind-boggling, the way you torture yourself.

How, instead of being grateful for all that you do have,

you despair for the few things, that you desire.

I look at you and see a frown, where I should see a laugh.

For you, your current situation might appear dire,

but for others,

it is a dream to live the life you find a weight on your shoulders.

You allow your problems to consume you.

The future scares you, and the past is haunting.

The present is stressful and unpromising.

Does this sound all too familiar?

Perhaps these are the thoughts that occupy the space in your mind.

The thoughts that run marathons, day, and night.

The thoughts, that stop by for a cup of tea, but end up staying for the whole week.

You think these tiring thoughts

every second of every minute.

Never give yourself a break from them.

I understand if people try to ruin your perfectly good day,

but why do you torture yourself with such things?

Why do you burden your mind with such lies?

It will all work out in the end.

That is my promise.

To you, and to anybody else,

who likes to treat their brain like a trash can.

Overloading it until the garbage overflows.

Overburdening their precious mind with horrible thoughts.

Why do you torture yourself, when the world is already cruel enough?

Be kinder to your mind, it did nothing wrong.

Stop.

Just stop.

Stop overburdening. Stop complaining. Stop overthinking.

Stop existing?

No, simply count your blessings. Practice gratitude and remember:

You are here to make mistakes. To explore. To discover. Not be perfect.
